A lacrosse field is bigger than you may think, coming in at 110 by 60 yds. This size definitely explains why lacrosse is called the fastest game on two feet! However, a field size can change depending on the age of the players. Youth games can range from 60 yds long fields to full-size fields depending on which grade the players are in. Kindergarten through 2nd grade play on a 60 yd field. 3rd and 4th grade play on a slightly bigger field and 5th grade and older play on a standard field.
A lacrosse field is 110 by 60 yds. Both men’s and women’s lacrosse fields are identical with slightly different markings for draws and the arcs for women’s lacrosse.
The defensive and offensive areas, known as the box, are where the defenders and attackers play. The boxes are 40 by 35 yds.
The midfield area is in the middle of the lacrosse field, between the boxes. This area is 40 by 60 yds. And where you will see the faceoffs and clears.
Specific to women’s lacrosse only, the goal area involves both arcs in front of the goal. Both the 8m and 12m arcs are in this area with the 12m arc being the critical scoring zone for most offenses. The two arcs extend 8m and 12m away from the goal.
The crease is the circular area that the goal sits in. It is located 15 yds from the end line and 20 yds from the top of the box. The crease has a 6 yds diameter.
